Who are we?
Chinese and Australian Baptist Church - Thornleigh was founded in July 1989. Since 1984, Rev. Joseph Fung responded to God's guidance, and, together with Rev. Burman of Eastwood Baptist Church began to reach out to the Cantonese speaking Chinese migrant community, resulting in the establishment of CABC Thornleigh. All this time the Church has upheld its foundation – the Word of God. The ministry of our church has always centred on the Word of God – our Sunday worship, our all-age Sunday school, our cell groups and fellowship groups all built upon this foundation; but from the beginning, never forgetting the Great Commission. Right from the beginning, CABC-Thornleigh already established a mission fund, supporting local and overseas mission.
Here we see a beautiful picture, the Australian and Chinese pastors and brothers and sisters then, in responding to the gospel need of the community, joined in local mission, establishing the church, spreading the Word of God, and supporting overseas missions. Just as the Lord Jesus, before his ascension, instructed the apostles and said, “…You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). We thank God for His provision throughout the years, for establishing CABC-Thornleigh this big spiritual family to proclaim Christ and witness the power of His Gospel.

Christmas Fair 2025 Letterbox drop off, pick a zone and deliver before the event
Christmas Fair 13th Dec., 2025 Come join us for an afternoon of fun at our annual outdoor Christmas Fair! The fair will run from 2pm to 5:30pm. At 5:30pm, there will be a carols service in the Main Hall, followed by dinner at 6:30pm. Details can be found on the flyer attached.
2025 End of Year Small Group Combined Lunch will be on the 28th December 2025! Give thanks to God for small groups and share a lunch. Bring a dish for Pot Luck and also a gift for Kris Kringle activity. Provide your attendance and dish in the form for organisation
Kids Fun Days 2026 is coming, and we need your help! For 5 days 19th – 23rd Jan we’ll be sharing the gospel through fun and engaging ways with more than 70 children. There are many ways to help during and before the program, volunteer via QR Code or contact Ps. Nathan Kwok.
Church Camp 2026 - Church camp is happening next year April 17th - 19th at Collaroy Centre. Join us in a weekend away as we look at the theme of "The Marathon of Faith - Running Toward the Eternal Prize". Please note that the registration form will require a screenshot of your payment receipt if you do bank transfers. Otherwise, for cash or eftpos, please see the registration desk after the service opposite the kitchen.
Faith Promise Giving form is now closed and approx. $88k was pledged in total this year. These commitments were made anonymously as personal promises to God - not based on current resources, but on trust in God's faithfulness to provide and fulfill what was promised by faith towards missionary support. Please continue to pray for the work of our missionaries. Please contact the pastors or Missionary deacon (Patrick Lai) for any questions.
To accommodate the needs for Christmas and Kids Fun Days, lunch fellowships will be suspended in December and January and resume in February 26.
